Seton Hall’s All-Time vs. the Hoyas: HALL leads, 39-29
Last Year’s Meetings:
HALL 61, Georgetown 47 (F) – January 31, 2020 (McDonough Arena)
HALL 79, Georgetown 60 (F) – January 5, 2020 (Walsh Gym)
LAST YEAR AGAINST GEORGETOWN
Seton Hall swept the season series from the Hoyas last season, winning big in Walsh Gym, 79-60, on Jan. 5, and upending them by 14 points, 61-47, on the road on Jan. 31.
Most recently, Alexis Lewis had a team-high 18 points, including 13 in the second half, as the Pirates defeated Georgetown, 61-47, at McDonough Arena last year. Seton Hall trailed by as many as eight points early, and was tied with Georgetown at the half, but outscored the Hoyas 21-9 in a game-changing third quarter.
Lewis finished with 18 points on the strength of four made three-pointers to go with 10 rebounds for her second straight double-double. Desiree Elmore also registered a double-double with 10 points and a team-best 11 rebounds.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown is coming off a very difficult 5-25 season overall, which included a 2-16 mark in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas finished the 2019-20 campaign with six straight losses.
This season, Georgetown isn’t expected to improve much, unanimously picked to finish last in the 11-team BIG EAST. Head Coach James Howard has a very young team this season and saw many of its leading scorers from a year ago graduate.
Georgetown enters Monday’s contest with a record of 1-8 having played only BIG EAST games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hoyas defeated Butler on New Year’s Eve to improve to 1-1, but has dropped seven straight games since. Most recently, Georgetown fell to Marquette, 55-48, on February 3. Graceann Bennett led the team with 12 points. Jillian Archer had nine points and nine rebounds.
UP NEXT
Seton Hall has a quick turnaround and will return to action on Wednesday, February 10 when it travels to Storrs, Conn. for a game at third-ranked Connecticut in Gampel Pavilion. Tip-time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. The contest will be televised by SNY, and as usual, provided by 89.5 FM WSOU or wsou.net.
