Overnight downpours have caused huge problems on Essex roads this morning.
Nearly an inch of rain has fallen across Essex in recent hours, according to the Essex Weather Forecasting Centre – and it’s causing big problems for those heading out and about this morning (Thursday, January 14).
Currently, the M25, A12, A13 and A12 are all affected by flooding on parts of the road.
The entry slip road for the A13 westbound carriageway at A128 Brentwood Road junction is currently closed due to flooding.
Meanwhile, the A127 is facing problems at numerous points along the road – with the Fairglen Interchange near Wickford especially affected with the roundabout completely submerged.
Essex Weather Forecasting Centre tweeted: “Nearly an inch of rain has fallen across large parts of Essex in the last 12 hours with widespread surface water flooding.
“Please take care if you are out and about on essential journeys this morning.”
Meanwhile, Essex Travel News tweeted: “Rain overnight has caused flooding and standing water on many roads across Essex.”
The rain follows amber warnings for snow in northern England, which have warmed as they’ve migrated further south.
This has led to the wet conditions we are seeing this morning.
