The Amarillo Fire Department said a Wednesday afternoon blaze involving a large shop and a travel trailer resulted in no injuries.

Per an APD news release, at 1:29 p.m. firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 500 block of West Colorado Avenue, indicating initial reports were that two structures were involved.

Authorities said the first unit arrived at 1:33 p.m. and found a travel trailer and a large shop involved with fire, and a second alarm was requested. Per the news release, 10 AFD units responded. Crews extinguished the travel trailer quickly, but had to force entry into the shop to access the fire.

The AFD noted residents stated the shop contained large amounts of welding equipment including oxygen and acetylene. Extreme precautions were taken and the fire was able to be controlled at 1:58 p.m.

The AFD said the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office responded and had not released its findings at the time of the news release.

Several homes were near the fire, according to authorities and indicated while a metal fence separating two properties was damaged, no other homes were involved.
