North Tyneside mum’s ‘dreams shattered’ by cancer diagnosis just before daughter’s first birthday
Busy planning her daughter’s first birthday celebration and dreaming of the wedding set for next year, Vikki Jose had everything to look forward to.
The 30-year-old Freeman Hospital healthcare assistant had just returned to work after maternity leave, and despite the challenges of Covid, was feeling optimistic for the future – even thinking of trying for a sibling for daughter Emily.

But Vikki’s world was turned upside down in August, when she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that threatened to claim her life.
Vikki, from Camperdown, North Tyneside, had discovered a lump on her breast while showering. But after a recent scare with a mole had turned out to be nothing, she was almost ready to write it off.
