North East set to be hit by freezing temperatures as low as -6C as wintery weather continues
New snow and ice warnings have been issued for parts of the UK with up to 6ins expected in a -3C freeze.

Britain is still reeling from deadly Storm Christoph which brought a blast of heavy snow after torrential rain triggering devastating floods in England and Wales, forcing thousands of families to flee their homes.
More is on the way this weekend, with as much as 6ins (15cm) possible in Devon and Somerset, and 4ins (10cm) in Shropshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Hampshire, the Met Office warned.
