Sugar Bears Travel Back to New Orleans


CONWAY, Ark. —The University of Central Arkansas women’s basketball team looks to improve on its two-game winning streak on Wednesday, when the Sugar Bears travel back to New Orleans for a contest that was previously postponed due to COVID-19.
 
Carley Hudspeth is coming off of the best game of her career. She posted a career-high 20 points in the win over Northwestern State and drained a career-best six 3-pointers. Ibeh finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, tied a team-high three assists, and two steals. Terri Crawford collected 11 points and added six rebounds, one steal, and one assist. Ayana Trigg recorded a season-best nine rebounds and tied a season-best eight points.
 
As a team, the Sugar Bears held the Lady Demons to 39 total points. The Central Arkansas defense held Northwestern State to just 29.8 percent from the field, which is the lowest all season, and 26.3 percent from behind the arc. UCA was dominant on the glass, as the Sugar Bears outrebounded the Lady Demons, 47-25.
 
Ibeh continues to be a factor at the offensive end of the floor as she recorded her fourth-consecutive game with at least 14 points. Ibeh is averaging 11.7 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, and has 32 steals, all are team highs. Ibeh is tied for 58th in the NCAA and is fifth in the Southland in steals and is tied for 79th in the nation and is third in the SLC with 2.29 steals per game.
 
Crawford is second on the team averaging 6.3 points per game. Briana Trigg is second on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game and has added 15 assists. Jayla Cody leads the Sugar Bears with 11 blocks on the season and has averaged 3.4 rebounds per game. Tori Lasker has a team-high 33 assists and has averaged 4.6 points per game.
 
The Sugar Bears hold a 6-3 advantage in a relatively new series. The Privateers have won the last two meetings, including an 85-73 victory last season. UCA is 4-1 in games that are played at New Orleans.
 
Dionjhae Thomas leads New Orleans with 11.2 points per game, leads the team with 34 assists, and leads the team with 20 steals. Erin Randle is averaging a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game and a team-high 10 blocks.
