Cullowhee, N.C. – Wednesday’s (Jan. 13) Southern Conference men’s basketball game between Western Carolina and UNCG scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Ramsey Center has been postponed due to continued COVID-19 quarantine protocols and NCAA return-to-sport guidelines.
Additionally, dates for three of Western Carolina’s previously postponed SoCon men’s basketball games including a pair of home dates and one on the road were released today by the conference office as a combined nine games have been rescheduled. All scheduled games are still subject to change.
WCU’s road game at Samford originally slated for Jan. 9 will now be played in Birmingham on Monday, Jan. 18. Originally scheduled home meetings with The Citadel (Jan. 2) and Furman (Jan. 6) have been moved to Monday, Feb. 1 and Monday, Feb. 15, respectively, with tip-off times yet to be announced. No makeup date has been announced for the postponed UNCG-WCU game.
Western Carolina (7-3, 0-1 SoCon) is next slated to travel to Mercer (7-3, 0-2 SoCon) on Saturday, Jan. 16 for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at Hawkins Arena. The Bears travel to Chattanooga (10-3, 1-3 SoCon) on Wednesday evening.
Saturday’s game between WCU and Mercer in Macon, Ga., is the “Ingles SoCon Game of the Week.” Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air Saturday’s game are: CW62, WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville), WCBD (Charleston), WGHP (Greensboro/High Point), WJHL (Johnson City), and WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke) (check local listings for availability). The game will also be simulcast on ESPN+ (subscription required) with live audio from the Catamount Sports Network available beginning at 1:30 p.m.
