PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University women’s basketball team (7-4, 4-2 CAA) will travel to Boston, Mass. to face the Northeastern Huskies (3-6, 2-4 CAA) in a weekend series on Saturday, Jan. 30, and Sunday, Jan. 31. Both games will tip at noon.
Drexel play-by-play announcer Ari Bluestein will have a free radio call. The game will also be streamed on FloHoops and broadcasted regionally in the New England area on NESNplus.
HISTORY
The Dragons and Huskies have a 55-game DI history, dating back to the 1991-92 season. DU has a favorable record of 35-20 and a win-streak of 12 games. Against the Huskies last season, the Dragons received standout performances from Mariah Leonard and Keishana Washington. Leonard turned in a 13-point game in Drexel’s nine-point victory on Jan. 10. Washington helped the Dragons complete a season-series sweep with 14 points on Feb. 9.
LAST WEEKEND
The Dragons hosted Elon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center, splitting the weekend series with the Phoenix. On Saturday, Hannah Nihill scored 16 points and had six steals. Those six steals tied her career-high and put the senior within the top-10 of the program’s all-time leaderboard. On Sunday, the Dragons were victorious with an 11-point victory. Nihill shined once more with 22 points, tying her career high. Leonard finished with 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

Nihill leads the Dragons, averaging 15.0 points per game, followed by Washington (11.6) and Leonard (10.2) through 11 contests.
LAST SEASON
Drexel claimed a share of the CAA regular-season crown and the No. 1 seed in the CAA Tournament with a 16-2 record a year ago and reached the 20-win plateau (23-7) for the fifth time in the past six seasons.
LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT
The Huskies have opened the season with a 3-6 record and a 2-4 mark in the CAA. Northeastern will be entering this weekend’s contest with a three-day rest instead of the usual five-day rest. The CAA rescheduled their original weekend series against James Madison from the weekend to Monday and Tuesday earlier this week. Northeastern dropped the first game on Monday but won the Tuesday matchup. The Huskies will enter their most challenging portion of the schedule in the next few weeks as they play six games against Drexel, Delaware and Towson, the conference’s top teams. The Huskies average 60 points per game while shooting .390 from the floor. #00 Mide Oriyomi leads Northeastern in scoring by averaging 13.8 points per game, followed by #11 Stella Clark (13.4) and #1 Kendall Currence (8.7).
